Chris Jones & The Night Drivers

CJ 13 Band photo barn (1)  Chris Jones & the Night Drivers are making some of the most distinctively, elegant yet driving music to be heard anywhere today & delivering it with a unique blend of dry with emotional authenticity & broad humor that’s won the loyalty of a growing number of fans across the country & around the world. With 3 on air bluegrass radio personalities in the band, they are the broadcastingest band in bluegrass.

For over fifteen years, Janet McGarry has continued to be a dominant presence in bluegrass music, both at home and abroad. She has shared stages with some of the most revered performers of this genre, and of her time. With nine albums to date, each have earned her awards, accolades, and much deserved respect from the music industry. Among her most significant career accolades, Janet is now a “Daughter of Bluegrass”, a leading group of female bluegrass artists, appearing as a lead artist on the cd “Bluegrass Bouquet”, the group’s third collaboration on Blue Circle Records. Janet is also a five-time “Female Vocalist of the Year” at the Eastern Canadian bluegrass Awards, the industry’s highest accolade. .

    A  New Shade of Blue                                                        

wp15309d27_05A New Shade of Blue hales from rural Nova Scotia & has been active on the Bluegrass scene since 1990.This band has won several individual & group awards at the Eastern  Canadian Bluegrass music awards. Although all members of A New Shade of Blue are multi-instrumentalists the main focus remains on vocals. The band is capable of delivering one, two, three or four part harmonies backed with whichever instruments compliment each song. This allows for a wide array of sounds from a four piece band. A New Shade of Blue has             produced 6 recordings to date. Ms. Allison Simm , Dean’s daughter has been making         regular guest appearances with Band.


 Two Plus Three

january 26 128This band is from the local west prince area .Band members are Charlie Hansen bass player, Beatrice Arsenault & Julie Lynn Arsenault are the main singers. Mike Richards is the mandolin player & David Albert is lead guitar player. Also Charlie Hansen & Mike Richards do some vocals. Julie also has her own CD out.

Allan Jefferies & Slim Pickins                                                           

trioAllan Jefferies (guitar)spent summers of his youth playing at Bluegrass festivals around the maritimes with his father John Jefferies. In 2005 Allan was named Atlantic Canada Bluegrass & Old Time Music Bluegrass guitar player of the year.  Ray Legere                   (mandolin/fiddle) is no stranger to good music. He has won multiple ECMA’S  for Bluegrass musician of the year. He was winner of 1986 mandolin championship in Winfield, Texas& placed in top 10 in several grand master fiddle contests. He accomplished many accolades in his long career most notably filling in for an ailing Bill Munroe in 1982.Calvin Deleavey(banjo)is one of the most high octane banjo players around. He is also a talented songwriter & record producer/engineer. He has been involved in getting some of the regions best Bluegrass on record making things sound great by providing production at many festivals. Kyle Cunjak(upright bass) is one of the most well rounded musicians around. A true music lover, Kyle has a keen ability for harmony & knows right where the pocket is . Allan & Kyle have been making music together since high school. Aside from being a full time musician Kyle owns and operates a record label(Forward Music) and is a professional photographer.

Blue Persuasion

100_0652 (1)Blue Persuasion was formed in 2011 when Audrey Barlow, Rob Arsenault and some friends got together to share their love of Bluegrass music. The band members have changed somewhat but Audrey & Rob continue to perfect their vocals &  instrumental skills. Audrey plays guitar & provides strong vocals. Rob plays banjo & loves to sing & play traditional songs. Blue Persuasion has performed at numerous Island festivals in the past 2 years & look forward to the 2014 season. The group likes to help worthy causes & have performed at many fundraising events.

S K Bluegrass

100_0509SK Bluegrass was formed in 1997 with numerous members coming and going but having lots of fun &  bonding friendships. We play at all PEI Festivals & in 2011 had the privilege to play at the Nova Scotia Bluegrass & Old Time Music. Band members are Frank Brown;Voacls & banjo, Eileen Brown: guitar & vocals, Glenda Johnston; upright bass & vocals, Jerome Arsenault: mandolin, guitar & vocals .
